Escaped Parchman inmate Dillon Williams is back in custody and will soon be returned to the Mississippi State Penitentiary.
The Mississippi Department of Corrections announced Monday afternoon that Williams had been captured.
David May, 42, the other inmate who escaped apparently on Friday, was taken back into custody on Sunday morning.
A $5,000 reward had been offered by Mississippi Crime Stoppers for information leading to recapture of Williams just before it was announced he had been apprehended.
“Thanks to the Marshall Service, MDOC and MHP for the Assistance in capturing the second escapee a short time ago,” Gov. Phil Bryan said in a Facebook post less than an hour ago. “He will be charged and returned to be incarcerated. We will now find whoever helped with his escape and charge them as well.”
This ends a manhunt for the two individuals, which began either late Friday or early Saturday.
MDOC confirmed the two were missing early Saturday morning, but the timeline of events seems to indicate they were on the loose hours before, perhaps before noon on Friday.
MDOC has not responded to The E-T’s repeated requests for interviews with Commissioner Pelicia Hall or Parchman Superintendent Marshal Turner.
