Sunflower County’s number of positive COVID-19 patients has not risen sharply in the past couple of weeks, but the county did record its third death from the virus.
The Mississippi State Department of Health showed the number of official positive tests stands at 57 as of Monday, with three confirmed deaths related to the virus.
Sunflower County Coroner Heather Burton confirmed this to The E-T today, stating that the individual who passed away was between 75 and 80 years of age, and the person had underlying medical issues prior to contracting the virus.
Data should be coming in over the next few days related to 688 tests that were performed by Delta Health Center’s drive-thru free testing site in Indianola last week.
