Sunflower County’s count of positive COVID-19 patients rose but not by much this past week.
As of Sunday, the Mississippi State Department of Health reports 47 positive tests in Sunflower County, and the death count remains at two.
There are no reported long-term care facility outbreaks in the county.
Neighboring counties have seen an uptick in positive test results and long-term care facility outbreaks.
Bolivar County sits at 82 confirmed cases, with five deaths related to COVID-19 and four long-term care facility outbreaks.
Coahoma’s numbers are almost identical to Sunflower County, with 48 positive patients and two deaths.
Washington County has 71 COVID-19 patients, with three reported deaths and one long-term care facility outbreak.
Tallahatchie and Humphreys Counties remain low still on the positive test side at eight and 12 respectively.
The MSDH says just over 50,000 people have been tested statewide for the virus, and 4,274 people had tested positive by Sunday. There have been 159 confirmed fatalities related to the illness.
