Three Mississippi Delta Community College instructors were chosen as the recipients of the 2017 T.R.O.J.A.N. Teacher Award.
An MDCC employee for 13 years, honoree Terry Moore serves as a psychology instructor. A resident of Greenwood, he received a Bachelor’s in Education from Missouri State University and a master’s from the University of Central Arkansas. Moore has three children, Darin, Lindey and Nathan and three grandchildren.
Fifteen year Trojan veteran Anita Horn, of Itta Bena, teaches English at the Greenwood campus. Horn holds both a Bachelor’s in English Education and a K-12 certification from Mississippi State University and a Master’s in English Education from Delta State University. She and her husband Tim have one son, Adam, who is an MDCC alumni and current student at Ole Miss. Horn is a very active member at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Greenwood.
Amy Biles is in her 14th year at the college as a science instructor. She received her Associate Degree from MDCC, a Bachelor’s of Science and a Master’s of Science from Delta State University. She lives in Cleveland with her husband, Hugh, and their 9-year-old named Brody.
The “Teachers Recognized for Optimism, Job well-done, Academic excellence and Nursing students (TROJAN)” award bears the name of the college mascot and is given to those who reflect its meaning.
