The three murder suspects in the city’s two most recent deaths are behind bars at the Sunflower County jail and a $1 million bond has been set for each.
In Indianola’s most recent violent death, Leradric Gardner, 23, 124 Torino Drive was arrested on Saturday after he allegedly made contact with one of the Indianola Police investigators and indicated that he wanted to turn himself in.
Garner is charged with the Thursday night death of 36-year-old Marcus Hutchins, 201 Janet Davis Circle. No official motive was released; however, Police Chief Edrick Hall reported at the time that the two men were reportedly engaged in a physical fight that started outside and consequently moved to the inside of a house on Front Street Ext., where Gardner allegedly got a firearm and shot Hutchins.
Hutchins was taken to South Sunflower County Hospital where he was later pronounced deceased as a result of his injuries.
In regard to a September shooting, U.S. Marshals arrested Lexus James, 29, without incident, at an Indianola residence on Sunday. He and Gereal Scott Galloway, 21, 309 Mimosa Ave., are being charged in the death of 31-year-old Marrio Terell Applewhite.
Galloway is expected to have his preliminary hearing on Tuesday in Municipal Court.
