Some weeks, things just don’t go right.
This week has been one of them. It seems like there were a million careless mistakes made, as well as mishaps with some of our paper delivery.
There really weren’t a million, but when you have several in this industry, it seems like a million.
First off, I will say that the headline in this week’s paper, Tax Breaks, was not a mistake. It was a deliberate play on words. If you read the story all the way through, the gist is that there was one Supervisor, Glenn Donald, who wanted to effectively put the brakes on doling out incentives to some companies.
Did I get a little too playful with words? Perhaps.
One of my sports stories this week had a jump in it, but that story’s conclusion did not appear on any pages beyond the original.
In my haste to put all of the homecoming stuff on the front, it slipped my mind to put the barcode back on the page.
The paper is still a buck, but we’ve put in ways to keep the line moving, so don’t hesitate to purchase from any of our regular vendors.
There are several other things that went wrong this week, but you know what? I am here, and I will live to fight another week.
Mistakes will happen, and it is my responsibility to make sure they don’t happen frequently, so I take responsibility for this week’s debacle, and I will take those lessons into creating the Oct. 11 edition of The E-T.
