An open date may be just what is needed for the North Sunflower Academy Rebels football team.
Seeing their record fall to a 0-3 mark following last Friday’s 39-8 road loss to Delta Academy in Marks, NSA Head Coach Todd Kitchings has definite plans for this week.
“We are going to use the time to regroup and refocus our efforts,” said the first-year coach.
That extra time to prepare will hopefully allow the NSA squad to improve its game as the road will not get any easier upon their return to live action.
For a visit by always strong Marvell (Ark.) Academy next Friday will be the Rebels’ next competition.
In last Friday night’s loss to Delta Academy, a 33-0 halftime score basically settled the game although the Rebels thwarted the Raiders’ attempt at recording a defensive shutout.
It would be a fourth quarter, 25-yard TD run by running back Jacob Gentry which, along with his subsequent two point conversion run, which accounted for the Rebels’ scoring in this game.
Gentry would ultimately lead NSA’s rushing attack with 77 yards earned against the staunch Delta Academy defense; a unit which has yielded only four touchdowns in their three games played thus far this season.
