With that goal in mind, a trip today to Amanda Elzy High in Greenwood is next up on the schedule for the Gentry High School basketball programs.
As for today’s action, a 6 p.m. tipoff will see the 5-12, 0-2 Lady Rams taking on the Lady Panthers.
At the conclusion of that game, the10-9, 0-2 Rams will then step onto the court for their competition against the Elzy High squad.
Basketball action continues to remain near constant as Saturday then brings the Gentry High squads a road trip to Thomas Edwards High in Ruleville.
That cross-county road trip precedes a return to Region 4-4A competition, a date which occurs next Tuesday when Kosciusko High School visits the Gentry High gymnasium.
This regional clash with the visiting Whippets begins a three-game string of regional games next up on the Gentry High schedule.
A 6 p.m. tipoff for the girls’ games occurs each day while the boys’ action begins immediately thereafter.
In their most recent action, regional play has not been kind to the Gentry High basketball teams.
This past Tuesday on their home court, both the Lady Rams and Rams suffered defeats to Yazoo City High School.
While the Lady Rams fell by a hard-fought 42-41 score, the Rams were dealt a 49-42 loss by the Indians.
In this nail-biter game, the Lady Rams were led by Alaysa Minniefield’s 11-point scoring performance.
Also reaching double figure scoring status was Ty’Reva Wright while Rhyna Ginn just missed double digits after posting nine points on the scoreboard.
Last Friday, the Gentry High squads also opened their Region 4-4A portion of their schedule with losses.
Playing at Greenwood High School, the Lady Rams dropped a 35-27 decision while the Rams were handed a 57-32 defeat by the Bulldogs.
