With only five regular season basketball games remaining on their schedule, action continues today for the Indianola Academy Lady Colonels and Colonels.
Today’s competition begins at 6 p.m. and will find cross-county foe North Sunflower Academy coming to the IA gym for their District 1-2A bout with the IA squads.
However, in their most recent play this past Thursday, the IA squads visited Winona Christian School in a non-district affair.
Results of that night’s pair of games were unavailable at press time.
While the Colonels took a 3-11,1-2 record into their game against the Stars, the Lady Colonels were looking to improve on their 3-9, 2-1 won-loss mark.
Basketball action continues Saturday when the only game to be played will be by the boys’ team.
Serving as the competition and making their first-ever appearance at Indianola Academy, Greater Praise Christian School of Memphis arrives for a 1 p.m. district contest against the Colonels.
Next Tuesday will then feature another home date when strong teams from Delta Academy of Marks descend on the IA gymnasium
With this being yet another night of district play, tipoff for the girls’ game is set for 6 p.m. with the boys taking the court immediately thereafter.
In this past week’s additional competition, the IA squads split their home-court district play Tuesday night against Regents School of Oxford.
While the Lady Colonels claimed a 32-29 victory over the visiting Lady Lions, the Colonels suffered a 59-30 loss to the team from Oxford.
It would be Phoebe Helms pacing the Lady Colonels’ offensive efforts in their win by posting 10 points on the scoreboard.
She was followed closely by Emeline Beilmann, whose eight points scored in the game was matched by pulling down eight rebounds.
Meanwhile, the Colonels’ scoring against Regents School was led by Isaiah Morgan, who recorded 11 points during his time on the court.
