The hope is that the new calendar year will be bringing a new fresh start for the Indianola Academy varsity basketball teams.
That new beginning will make its appearance Monday when the IA squads host North Delta School from Batesville.
The Lady Colonels will enter their 6 p.m. game as owners of a 1-9 record. Meanwhile, the Colonels will follow by taking a 1-7 record into their competition against the Green Wave.
However, another night of competition comes quickly as Tuesday will find the IA squads traveling to North Sunflower Academy in Ruleville.
That night’s play against the Rebels also holds much importance as the IA squads face their first District 1-2A competition of the season.
Tipoff for the girls’ game is 6 p.m. with the boys taking the court immediately thereafter.
This cross-county trip to the north is also the first of three consecutive district games which populate the IA schedule over the course of the next several days.
