Despite recording a strong finish to their soccer season, the Indianola Academy Lady Colonels saw their 2024 campaign come to an end last Thursday in Greenville.
Competing in the semi-final round of the Division III State Playoffs, the Lady Colonels fell 4-0 to Washington School of Greenville, the eventual Division III State Champion.
With the loss to the Lady Generals, the IA squad saw its season end with a 7-9-2 record.
As for the Lady Generals, their victory over IA sent the Washington School squad into this past Monday’s Division III State Championship match.
In that title match, played at Hartfield Academy in Flowood, the Lady Generals captured the state crown by defeating Central Hinds Academy of Raymond by a 2-0 score.
Meanwhile, after greatly aiding their own team to reach the state semi-final match, there were four seniors wearing their IA soccer uniform for the final time.
Included in this group of seniors were Lilli Dawson, Maggie Jenkins, Maddie Purvis and Emma Grace Putnam.
