It is back to work for the Indianola Academy Lady Colonels soccer team.
While a pause in soccer action was had this past week by the IA squad, next Monday brings important Division III-West competition.
It will be the Washington School Lady Generals coming to the IA field for a 3 p.m. match against the now 4-6, 1-0 Lady Colonels.
This first meeting of the year between these two squads will see the IA squad clashing with last season’s Division III state runner-up.
Additional soccer play occurs next Wednesday when IA travels to Lee Academy in Clarksdale.
This 3 p.m. match against the Fillies is a non-divisional match-up.
As for the Lady Colonels’ most recent September 4 play, a 3-1 home-field loss to Kirk Academy of Grenada was absorbed.
In this non-divisional meeting, the Lady Colonels initially knotted the game at one apiece before the Lady Raiders struck back with two goals.
It was Maggie Jenkins recording IA’s goal as her header found the back of the net.
The goal was set up by an Emeline Beilmann free kick which caromed off the top bar of the goal toward Jenkins. The senior alertly seized the opportunity to score this point.
