The season is still young, and the Indianola Academy basketball teams are attempting to improve their game amid a three-game string of road trips.
With that being the state of their schedule, the 1-2 Lady Colonels and the 0-1 Colonels will travel to Carroll Academy next Tuesday for additional non-district action.
That night’s play will then be followed by a trip next Thursday to Deer Creek School in Arcola.
Tipoff for the girls’ game each night is 6 p.m. with the boys’ game to follow immediately thereafter.
Within this past week’s action, the Lady Colonels earned their first win of the season Monday night with a 42-27 home-court victory over Deer Creek School.
Meanwhile, that same night the Colonels played their first game of the season and dropped a 45-32 decision to the Warriors.
In their victory, the Lady Colonels’ scoring efforts were led by Phoebe Helms’ 13-point performance.
As for the Colonels, it was Patrick Davis pacing the scoring for IA as the sophomore bucketed 14 points against the Deer Creek School defense.
The basketball action has remained nearly constant for the Lady Colonels as their most recent play Tuesday night saw them fall by a 59-37 score to Washington School in Greenville.
Again, it was Helms leading the offense for IA and for the second consecutive game, she posted 13 points on the scoreboard.
In the rebounding category, Davis and Helms brought down five errant shots apiece while Davis also added two blocked shots and a steal on defense.
Meanwhile, that same night the Colonels did not play as the Washington School football team is still participating in their playoff competition.
Other Lady Colonels basketball action included a November 6 season-opening loss to visiting Washington School of Greenville.
Emeline Beilmann’s four-point night of play led IA’s scoring while Davis recorded six rebounds against the Lady Generals.
