Indianola police investigators are still following leads in the city’s latest homicide.
Adrian Jacquez Liggins, 22, was shot while driving down Garrard Avenue after 9 p.m. last Friday night.
He was pronounced deceased at 10 p.m., Sunflower County Coroner Heather Burton said.
Indianola Police Chief Ronald Sampson told The Enterprise-Tocsin that there were no suspects or arrests as of press time this week.
Sampson urges anyone who may have information regarding the shooting to call the police or download the Tip411 app where individuals may offer information anonymously.
Liggins was known to many simply as “Dude”, according to his former football coach.
He was a 2020 graduate of Gentry High School, where he was a standout athlete, especially during his senior football season when he was one of the leaders on the Rams’ wide receiver corps.
“(Adrian) was one of the best kids I coached at Gentry High School,” former Rams Head Coach Mario Young told The E-T. “He was a very respectful young man and carried himself like a student-athlete. He did well in all his classes academically, and I can’t recall a time with him having any discipline problems. He will truly be missed by his family, classmates, teachers and teammates. My prayers and condolences go out to the family.”
