Jewel Mae Amason Kirksey, born on March 27, 1938, in Magee, Miss., peacefully passed away on Friday, Jan. 24, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones. A longtime resident of Indianola, Jewel later made her home in Brandon, where she was a cherished member of Christway Church of God in Flowood.
Jewel devoted over 20 years of her career to Planters Bank, where her warmth and dedication left a lasting impression on her colleagues and customers alike. She was a devout Christian who served her church faithfully through her musical talents, singing and playing the piano to glorify God. Beyond her spiritual contributions, Jewel found joy in baking and cooking, delighting her family with her culinary creations.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter Dennis and Lanah Mae Amason; her siblings, Evelyn Kendall and Lavelle Amason; and her daughter, Teresa Kirksey Boulware, whom she now reunites with in heaven..
Jewel was the beloved wife of Billy Kirksey and a devoted mother to her daughters, Connie Dickerson (Mike) and Kay Perry (Jody), and son-in-law, Jimmie Boulware. Her legacy lives on through her grandchildren, Will Perry (Kita), Callie Dye (Stephen), Morgan Boulware, Brooke Fisher (Wesley), Connor Dickerson (Ashleigh), and Brett Dickerson; as well as her great-grandchildren, Jayden, Jameson, Joey, Lilly, Oakley, Kirby, and Keifer. Jewel also leaves behind her loving siblings, Gwen Weeks, Elizabeth Errington, Jimmy Amason, J.D. Amason, and Arnold Amason. Jewel's life was enriched by the love of her many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
Her kindness, faith, and dedication to her family and community will forever be remembered and cherished.
Visitation was held from 11 a.m. until 12 p.m. Tuesday, January 28, at Burton Funeral Home in Indianola. The funeral service began at 12 pm. Burial followed at Indianola City Cemetery. Burton Funeral Home of Indianola was entrusted with arrangements.
