Leet Clark Maggio, 79, of Indianola, died Saturday, Nov. 15, 2025. Visitation was Friday, Nov. 21, 2025, at 1 p.m., followed by a memorial service at 2 p.m. at Indianola Presbyterian Church. A private burial was held at Greenville Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Boone Funeral Home, Indianola.
Mrs. Maggio was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest Beatty “Tucker” Clark Jr. and Ruth Wilson Standefer of Leland. She was also preceded in death by her husband, John Vincent Maggio Sr. of Indianola, and by a brother, Ernest Beatty Clark III, of Leland. Survivors include a daughter, Elizabeth Maggio Beckham (Hugh), of Nesbit; a son, John Vincent “Jay” Maggio Jr. (Amy), of Cleveland; four granddaughters, Clare Beckham Sones (Mitchell) of Columbus, Madison Beckham of Birmingham, Ala., Emily Beckham of Starkville, Carrie Maggio of Starkville; and a grandson, John Vincent Maggio III, of Cleveland.
Mrs. Maggio received an education degree from Delta State University. She was a teacher and enjoyed a long career at Trigg Elementary School, First Presbyterian Church of Indianola Kindergarten, Indianola Academy, and Central Delta Academy. She loved her students, and they loved her back! Her hobbies included playing bridge with her Indianola friends, watching John play tennis, and traveling to Hot Springs Village, Ark., with her husband. She also loved to cook and was well known in the community as one of Indianola’s “best cooks,” and for writing a cookbook, “Leet’s Favorite Culinary Creations” with several printings needed after the original publishing. Most of all, she loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and adored her family and cherished the time spent with them.
The family is especially grateful for the exceptional care that she received from her caregivers and medical personnel during the last few years as she battled cancer.
