Dear Editor,
Mrs. Lizzie Brent celebrated her 89th birthday on Saturday June 28, at the Rooftop Inn in Shaw. It was wall-to-wall people there. It was relatives, friends, family from out of town, and so many grandchildren, great-grands, and great-great-grands! The party started at 4 o’ clock. It was a Tea Party setting with every utensil to make it complete. The food was out of this world – there was every kind of meat you could name, as well as roasted corn on the cob, barbecue, and pond-raised catfish. Pastor (Herron) Wilson was there as he was the special speaker (for telling jokes) and he’s also the executive director of Delta Missions, so, of course, you know Delta Missions was in the house! If anybody was in a sad mood they should have been at that party – they would have bursted their sides laughing. The second part of the party was after dinner. They had a Hat Fair and some special people that had been so dear to Ms. Brent and her family across the years, they gave them a hat and opportunity to model their hat. We really enjoyed the party. It was nice and everything went well – not a whimper of confusion.
Another one of our members, Mrs. Sarah Thomas, celebrated her wedding anniversary on July 2. Mrs. Thomas has made her contribution to the field of education and politics. She was the State Representative in District 31 for 21 years, and she spent 32 years in the school system, and still celebrating Mr. Arthur & Sarah Thomas’ 64th-year anniversary through love and happiness.
God truly blessed the members of Delta Missions when he blessed our director to create Delta Missions 31 years ago. He didn’t put us there to leave him.
God bless each and every one of us. God bless Ms. Hale and all our supporters and staff members. Hope everyone had a Happy 4th of July!
Sincerely,
Annie Butcher
