Dear editor,
I am grateful to the citizens of sunflower county for allowing me the blessings and privilege to serve you as one of your county supervisors.
I am serving my fifth term as county supervisor.
I take my job very serious and I realize that all of us have an opinion and a vote in our capacity as supervisors.
We must think and act carefully about the decisions we make because it maybe our decision but it affects all of the pocket books and wallets of the tax paying citizens.
Some of the supervisors may or may not pay taxes but I do and I pay a lot of them so with saying that I know that the the 1.1 million unnecessary loan is a great liability to the citizens of sunflower county.
In the highest point of a worldwide pandemic when you don’t know who will and can pay their taxes for this tax year and maybe some years in the future why would you as a responsible entrusted leader chooses to put the county in a 1.1 million dollar debt on equipment that you already have
Almost an half a million if the loan is for two machines we will not and please hear me we will not use because you don’t have the extra money to purchase materials to operate it.
It take at least 40,000 dollars per mile to run this chipper spreader which is money we don’t have and you can not legally use the user tax money to build roads it is purposed for road maintenance We should not override the road manager which is by law under the UNIT SYSTEM the road manager is in charge of the road department and not one or two or three supervisors.
It’s against the auditors code and can be charged for not operating under the system in which you are elected. The best system gives the supervisors the decision but the unit system places these decisions on what is needed or not in the hands of the Road Manager.
We are out of line because Mr. Fairly the road manager clearly said that do not need these two pieces of equipment valued at almost an half a million dollars. Please talk to your supervisors before they sink this count.
Thank you.
