To the Citizens of Sunflower County:

It is a privilege and blessing to have served you all of these years. One of the highlights of my position is to be able to have a direct impact on the people of Sunflower County. I will continue striving to ensure the highest level of professionalism within law enforcement standards to accommodate the citizens of Sunflower County. I have an open-door policy and I am here if you need me; my office is always open.

Please consider this message as an open invitation to all police departments in Sunflower County to join me in an effort to keep our citizens safe. Let’s collaborate and work together. Let’s join forces to cut down crime in Sunflower County. We are equipped with some of the best deputies, police officers, dispatchers and judges, along with other staff members. We are capable of being GREAT!

There is strength in numbers and I would love to work hand-in-hand with all departments to ensure that we are giving our citizens a fair shot at a safer community, approachable law enforcement, and opportunities to improve themselves before being incarcerated or penalized. We can do this and we can bring change as has never been seen before – if we work together as a team.

Please note that this is not about me, but about the citizens of Sunflower County, which I have grown to love. Our goal is to better serve and protect our beloved citizens. My office number is 662-887-2121. Feel free to contact my office to report any crime or accident you may see or have knowledge of. I look forward to continuing my service with Sunflower County as Sheriff. Be blessed.

James Haywood

Sunflower County Sheriff
