Dear editor,
If the three supervisors’ (who fired Fred Washington) excuse or purpose for firing him was to go back to a part-time County Administrator, why didn’t they offer the part-time position to Mr. Washington for $60,000 a year? I would imagine Mr. Washington would love to work 19 hours a week for $60,000 a year. 19 hours a week constitutes part-time in a 40-hour work week.
But they didn’t offer it to him, WHY NOT? Mr. Rice, you said it’s not personal. Taking $90,000 a year from a man who has done nothing wrong and who has received no write-ups is not personal — but what is certain is that Mr. Washington knows his job and asked Mrs. Dickerson to let him do his job because the three of them want to micromanage the county administrator, solid waste and the road departments.
My take is to stop the destruction and destructive acts and let this county be normal. Let’s have normal meetings, normal hiring, normal firing, normal conversations and normal government like it used to be. God help us all in Sunflower County in Christ Jesus name.
