Dear editor,
Seriously, ease up. What will you do next, give us our tags?
First, you do not request proof of insurance. Proof of insurance should be required to purchase a tag.
Second, since the garbage bill being paid was the only requirement to purchase a tag, do you really think the past due customer is going to put this on the top of their list to pay since you decided to ease up? The past due bills will grow larger, and the remaining customers, who have paid on time, will eventually have to pay more for garbage service to cover the expense you will be writing off due to uncollectable. I do not understand how that will save the county money.
This was a poor decision for the board to make.
Since $6,678.55 in past due monies was collected in the last month, please give us an update in the upcoming months to show how much has been collected since you eased up.
