Dear Editor,
My deepest condolences to the family of Dr. Katie Patterson. Her tragic loss will leave an unfillable void in the medical care and community leadership of Indianola.
Dr. Patterson delivered both of my daughters, and there’s no one my wife and I would trust more to care for our family. She always approached medicine with a smile, a gung-ho attitude, a genuine care for your wellbeing and a sense that whatever health issue you were facing that we would figure it out together.
Since moving from Indianola five years ago, we’ve realized how rare it is to find a doctor with those characteristics.
As all of us who knew Dr. Patterson mourn her loss, this thought came to me: Even though she is gone, her legacy will live on in the countless babies, like my daughters, that she delivered. All the great things that those children will accomplish for decades to come will be possible, in part, to the healthy start Dr. Patterson gave them.
