Spring into Reading Challenge – through March 31st. Join us this March as you dive into your favorite books by completing a reading challenge with your selected book. Return the completed reading challenge card when you return your borrowed book. The card will be placed in a Reading Challenge collection box and at the end of the month, a drawing will occur. The lucky winner will receive a small prize as a reward for participating. This month’s prize is a Library Bag filled with reading essentials: book light, magnetic bookmark, and a page magnifier – something nice to have while you enjoy your next book. Please ask at the library’s Circulation Desk for more details. All library branches will be offering the reading challenge. This program benefits people of all ages.
Virtual Storytime – featuring “Amelia Bedelia Hits the Trail” by Herman Parish on the Sunflower County Library YouTube Channel beginning March 20th. This program benefits children ages 0-5.
Storytime at the Indianola Library – “How to Catch a Garden Fairy” by Alice Walstead on March 25th at 9:30 a.m. These programs benefit children ages 0-5.
Making MoooLah – an exciting farm management game where children can learn about money, decision-making, and running a farm at 4 p.m. on March 25th at the Ruleville Library, April 16th at the Moorhead Library, and April 17th at the Inverness Library. Come and see if you have what it takes to make some MoooLah! This program benefits children ages 6-11 and is a fun activity to review math skills.
Pet Cents – a fun and interactive game where children can learn what it takes to choose a pet and care for it responsibly at 4 p.m. on March 26th at the Ruleville Library, and March 27th at the Inverness Library. Children will shop for a pet, plan a budget, and discover the real costs of food, vet visits, and more. Will you be able to afford the perfect plan? Come play and find out! This program benefits children 6-11 and is a wonderful way to review math skills.
Penny Pinchers’ Party – a fun and interactive game where every cent counts on March 29th at 10 a.m. at the Indianola Library, on March 31st at 3:30 p.m. at the Drew Library, on April 23rd at 4 p.m. at the Moorhead Library, and on April 24th at 4 p.m. at the Inverness Library. Children are invited to put their money smarts to the test by planning the perfect party within a budget. This program benefits children 6-11 and helps with math skills.
Currency Congo – a fun and educational gaming event that teaches kids about money, math, and smart decision-making on March 22nd at 1 p.m. at the Indianola Library. Bring your curiosity and game-playing spirit! This program benefits children 6-11 and helps kids review money math skills.
Piggy Bank Theater – a playful and interactive program where children explore storytelling, creativity, and smart financial choices on March 24th at 3:30 p.m. at the Drew Library, on April 5th at 1:30 p.m. at the Indianola Library, on April 28th at 4 p.m. at the Moorhead Library, and on April 29th at 4 p.m. at the Inverness Library. Let’s turn dreams into reality – one piggy bank at a time! This program benefits children 6-11.
Women’s History Month Scavenger Hunt – put your detective skills to the test on March 26th at 11 a.m. at the Drew Library, and March 27th at 4 p.m. at the Ruleville Library. Explore every nook and cranny and uncover hidden treasures at your library. This program benefits young adults 12-18.
Spring Flowers – celebrate the beauty of Spring Flowers at our adult craft time at 4 p.m. on March 21st at the Drew Library, March 24th at the Moorhead Library, and March 25th at the Indianola, Ruleville and Inverness libraries. This program benefits adults.
The Social Hour – Join us for fun and games such as Bingo and community jigsaw puzzles on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Indianola Library. What a wonderful way to meet new friends and keep your mind sharp! This program benefits our senior adults in the community.
Math building skills sessions – every Saturday from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Indianola Library. Get a jump start on mastering math. This program benefits first grade through twelfth grade school students.
Chair Aerobics – get fit while you sit every 4th Thursday of each month from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Indianola Library. This program benefits adults.
Self-Paced Digital Literacy – Contact your local library to set up a session. This program benefits adults.
If you cannot make these programs due to a tight schedule, take advantage of Library Pop-In Programs at all library branches available to you whenever you visit the library.
