This July, the Sunflower County Library System invites readers of all ages to dive into a vibrant summer of stories, imagination, and discovery with our Color Our World Summer Reading Program! From books that brighten the mind to activities that spark creativity, this year’s theme celebrates the power of reading to bring color, connection, and joy to our community.
More than just a fun seasonable tradition, summer reading also plays a vital role in supporting academic growth. Studies show that consistent reading over the summer helps prevent the “summer slide” – the learning loss that can occur during school breaks – especially in children and teens. By participating in our program, young readers can stay sharp, build confidence, and head into the next school year with strong literacy skills.
Whether you are a child, teen, or adult, there is something for everyone at the library this summer. With exciting events and creative activities, you can enjoy a summer full of learning, laughter, and colorful memories.
If you cannot make these programs due to a tight schedule, take advantage of Library Pop-In Programs at all library branches available to you whenever you visit the library.
