The following are programs scheduled for the next week or so. If you cannot make these programs due to a tight schedule, take advantage of Library Pop-In Programs at all library branches available to you whenever you visit the library.
Virtual Storytime – The perfect way to share stories together, no matter where you are. Join us for Virtual Storytime every Thursday. To join, simply visit the Sunflower County Library YouTube channel. This program benefits ages 0-5.
America 250 – To celebrate our nation’s upcoming 250th anniversary, the library will feature interesting facts about the signers of the Declaration of Independence on our Sunflower County Library Facebook page. The featured story for Jan. 30 is Richard Henry Lee.
Storytime at the Library – Storytime at the Library – Storytime is a wonderful way to introduce early literacy skills and the joy of reading. Join us for Storytime at the Library every Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. at the Indianola Library. This program benefits ages 0-5 and the featured books are Magnolia Book Award nominees (see below).
Snowy Day Storytime – Bundle up with your imagination and join us for “The Snowy Day” by Ezra Jack Keats at 3:30 p.m. on Jan. 28 at the Drew Library, and on Jan. 29 at the Ruleville Library. This program benefits ages 0-5.
The Sunflower County Library System is promoting community literacy through the Magnolia Book Award selection. Children of pre-kindergarten through 12th grade are encouraged to read the 2026 nominated books and vote for their favorite book. Visit any library branch to obtain the list of nominated books, read them, and vote for your favorite at any library branch. Books are available from the library. Be a part of this important statewide event and let your voice be heard. Voting booths will be set up at each library branch from Feb. 2–26 during library operational hours. Operational hours are listed on the library website at www.sunflower.lib.ms.us.
The following programs are available anytime:
History Tidbit – Discover fascinating moments from the past! Check out the Sunflower County Library System Facebook page for this month’s History Tidbit featuring Thomas Paine’s Influence Yesterday and Today. Also, check out our New Year’s Eve Tradition Tidbit.
Jigsaw Puzzle Swap – Are you finished with your latest jigsaw puzzle? Don’t let those pieces gather dust. Swap them for a new-to-you puzzle to enjoy from the Library Jigsaw Puzzle Swap shelf at the Indianola Library. Just bring in your gently used puzzles (all pieces included, please!). This is a new service available to the community.
Self-Paced Digital Literacy – Contact your local library to set up a session. This program benefits adults.
Who am I? – Want to help your local library and community without leaving your couch? Want to play a game of "Guess Who?" Then check out our Facebook page! Each week on Wednesday we will be posting photos of unidentified individuals or places in time from our archive. Please help us identify them! Who knows, maybe you'll find yourself from the past! We welcome all your comments or reach out to our archive directly at rpollard@sunflower.lib.ms.us or 662-445-1624.
All programs are free and available to the public.
