Greetings, absolutely awesome Enterprise-Tocsin Readers and once again thanks for not only reading my columns but also for helping me achieve over 1 million reads this year on the E-T website.
I have to apologize for my absence.
Being an old-ageless enchanted artifact of intellect as well as both the interpreter of interpretations and corrector of the congregation; I have a condition that makes me process things a little different than most.
Even Mississippi’s own man of steel must retreat, meditate, pray, wrestle with myself and find peace.
All that is must learn to kneel if ever to rise.
After traveling with a friend from New Orleans back home to Indianola, we had to make an emergency stop at the Flowers Bakery Company (The company behind Wonder Bread) because we had sugary-sweet cravings.
I can always get an overdose of sweet tasty treats at the Flowers Bakery.
No pun intended, but you can get the same honey bun that Double Quick sells for close to $3.00 sometimes for $.75 and a fresh honey bun for less than $2.
Now for my column.
About three years ago, I had a number of local pastors to be guest of my radio show “The Chronicles of Allen Hawkins” and one of my all-time favorites guests was and always is State Rep, Pastor Otis Anthony.
Not just because of my family’s connection but because we always have such meaningful conversations.
I recall soon after my interview with Reverend Anthony, he expressed his overwhelming concerns about the state of the nation with mankind’s mistreatment of his brother.
The many problems of the world as well as our state seem to drain and frustrate him a little. I remember smiling at him as saying that it is written the book of Isaiah 44:6 and Revelation 21:6 that God is the source of both good and evil.
I went on to say that it is written in the “Tao Te Ching” by ancient Chinese philosopher, poet, and omega-level oracle Laozi, that
“Under Heaven all can see beauty as beauty only because there is ugliness, all can know good as good, because there is evil, therefore, having, and not having arise together. Difficult and easy compliment each other. High and low rest upon each other; Front and back follow one another.”
I then told Representative Anthony “That if the world was a temple and everybody was good, we wouldn’t need you.”
I remember him smiling after hearing that. His smile and kind words made my day big-time and I just wanted to share that with the readers.
As you already know, I don’t like to leave these precious pages without sending a few shoutouts.
Hugs, love and blessings to the awesome Enterprise-Tocsin office manager Ms. Debbie Bethel, family and friends, Mrs. Gloria Ball, Steve Rosenthal, Mr. Howard Farrow, Mr. Charles “Bear” Courtney, Mr. Sam Brock, Judge Lisa Bell, Judge Gwendolyn Pernell, Reverend Edward Thomas, Sheriff James Haywood, Mrs. Debra Johnson, Mr. Elvis Pernell and everyone else.
Thanks for all the support and may God’s everlasting light continue to shine upon all of us…..
