Flora, Mississippi, a small town in Madison County, smack down in the middle of almost every city in central Mississippi, is the place that I call home.
Never in a million years would I have ever thought that I’d be living in the Mississippi Delta, until I come across The Enterprise-Tocsin.
Ever since I was little, the only thing I ever wanted to do was write.
I would write everything from poems to short stories, or just how I felt that particularly day. I always knew I wanted to write in some capacity. When I initially started my college career, I thought about being a news anchor.
But due to me being shy and having stage fright, I quickly came to the realization that that wasn’t really within my lane.
It wasn’t until I began writing for The E-T as an intern that I realized I would like to pursue a career in newspaper journalism.
Interning for the paper was such an exciting experience for me. Not only was I working hands on, I also got a preview of what it would be like to be a reporter. From conducting interviews, to sitting in on city board meetings, it took me no time to realize that this is what I wanted to do.
Fast forward to now — I’m a recent graduate from Mississippi Valley State University, the “Educational Oasis of the Delta,” and lead reporter here at The Enterprise-Tocsin.
While being here, I hope to learn more about Sunflower County and embrace everything that it has to offer. This is my home now, so I’m ready to take on whatever it throws my way.
