When Mary Ann Griffin approached the late Dr. Katie Patterson about possibly reviving the Friends of the Library organization in Indianola several years ago, Griffin said that Patterson did not hesitate.
“Without batting an eye, she said, ‘Sure, what do we need to do?’” the Sunflower County Library System director told a crowd, which included Patterson’s husband and three of her sons, during the dedication of a new exhibit last week.
The LiteZilla giant Lite Brite wall is now available for use in the kids’ section on the first floor of the Indianola library.
Dr. Patterson dedicated her life to saving lives and improving health outcomes in this community through her medical practice, and it is fitting that the Friends of the Library has dedicated this exhibit in her memory.
“We all agree that this board not only provides what the library needed, but it is also a true symbol of our past Friends of the Library president,” Griffin said.
