Mississippi State Trooper Ryan Watson’s pass through Indianola on Thursday took only a matter of seconds.
It was only seconds, though, that changed a Tuesday morning traffic stop for Watson in Mound Bayou to an officer-involved shooting that left him with non-life-threatening injuries.
A state trooper’s cruiser escorted Watson home on Thursday, a trip that included a large portion of Sunflower County.
A small contingent of citizens and local law enforcement stood at the end of the drive at Ideal Cleaners, located along U.S. 49, to wave to the trooper in support as he passed.
Watson was released from the hospital exactly two days after the incident.
