Indianola police have made two arrests in the city’s first 2023 homicide, and a third suspect is wanted, as of press time.
Lamorris Richardson was arrested shortly after the shooting of Treyvyon Lyons, 20, of Greenwood, who was pronounced dead at South Sunflower County Hospital around 10:40 p.m. on Sunday. Richardson is charged with first degree murder.
IPD Chief Ronald Sampson told The Enterprise-Tocsin on Wednesday that Ladarrius Thornton, a second suspect in the homicide, turned himself in earlier that day and is charged with first degree murder. A third suspect, Devon Gino Anderson, was still wanted on the same charge as of press time.
“At the time of the (first) arrest, there were two other subjects with him, but we were able to apprehend him,” Sampson said, adding that there was a weapon recovered at the time of the arrest.
Lyons’s body was found in the 400 block of Faison Avenue.
Richardson appears in The E-T’s Sunflower County Jail docket report this week, but he was booked on Monday at around 12:30 a.m. for discharging a firearm within the city limits. It appears the murder charge was added later in the week.
Sampson said an eyewitness saw the vehicle leaving the scene of the shooting and offered a description to police, leading to the swift arrest.
