Indianola police made the following arrests between January 10 and January 18,
On January 10 at 1:14 p.m., Charles Antonio Benson, 215 Roosevelt Street, was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct (failure to comply with police) and resisting arrest after officers were called to the 300 block of Front Avenue Ext., to conduct warrant service. Benson reportedly ran from officers; in addition, four unspent Winchester bullets, a cell phone, a Guaranty Bank debit card and TJ Maxx gift card were reportedly taken into evidence.
On January 12 at 3:20 a.m., Adrian Maurice Griffin, 219 Gardner St., was arrested and charged with domestic violence with injuries (first offense). Officers first received the call from a man stating that he had been assaulted by his son and subsequently received a call from another man advising that his father had assaulted him. There were reportedly minor injuries and MedStat was called in.
On January 16 at 6:30 p.m., LaQuarin Juquon Murphy, 525 East Gresham Street, Apt-F, was arrested and charged with domestic violence with injuries (first offense) and giving false identifying information after officers were called to the South Sunflower County Hospital Emergency Room. An E.R. attendant reported that an East Gresham Street woman had been assaulted with serious injuries.
On January 18 at 9:17 p.m., Ryan Lamar Nance, 6 Henry Rosser Drive was arrested and charged with domestic violence (simple assault) after officers were called to the 100 block of East Baker Street where a Sunflower Street/Ethel Waters Drive woman said that her boyfriend assaulted her in the parking lot of South Sunflower County Hospital.

On January 10 at 1:20 a.m., officers responded to an alarm call in the 200 block of U.S. Highway 82 West where they found that someone had stolen $500 worth of merchandise after they broke a window out.
On January 10 at 7:54 a.m., officers were called to the area of U.S. Highway 82 and MS Highway 448 about an accident involving a Woodbine Lane woman driving a 2017 GMC Sierra pickup.
On January 10 at 9:50 a.m., a Pershing Avenue woman said someone damaged her 2009 Chevrolet Malibu by knocking the driver's side mirror off. The incident happened in the 700 block of Pershing Avenue.
On January 10 at 9:55 a.m., a Gray Avenue man said someone had broken into his sister's home in the 400 block of Gray Avenue. The thief reportedly stole a pair of gold earrings, a silver necklace with a medallion, her Woodforest Bank card, her Cash App card, a 42-inch Samsung television, and a Dungeon 9mm handgun.
On January 10 at 4:10 p.m., a Lee Circle woman said that an Abide Avenue, Greenville man has been threatening and harassing her.
On January 10 at 11:32 p.m., a Patricia Drive woman said that her 19-year-old daughter has her car and has not returned it even though she has made several calls to the daughter, who keeps lying about it.
On January 11 at 9:14 a.m., a Sparkling River Road, Boca Raton, Florida man reported theft by embezzlement regarding $273,900 worth of assorted Parmida lighting fixtures. Two other persons are named in the report for unspecified reasons, a MS Highway 430, Coila, Mississippi man and a Henderson Street, Greenwood man.
On January 11 at 11:20 a.m., a Witsell Road, Jackson man said someone drove off in his 2013 burgundy Ford F-150 pickup valued at $10,000. The vehicle was reportedly in the 400 block of Chandler Street at the time. A short time later an unidentified caller said that two men, wearing masks, dropped the stolen vehicle off at an empty house in the 200 block of Gardner Street and it was retrieved.
On January 11 at 1:42 p.m., a Sparkling River Road, Boca Raton, Florida man said someone stole by embezzlement $1,240 worth of merchandise, identified as LCD computer screens.
On January 11 at 9:24 p.m., officers were called to the 300 block of Church Avenue about an accident where someone said that a man driving a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado pickup had run into a tree. A Church Avenue man and a Coates Street man are listed as drivers; a 2001 Ford Taurus was also reportedly damaged.
On January 11 at 9:32 p.m., a Napa Valley Villa Rica, Douglasville, Georgia man said someone stole a 2014 Kia Optima from the 100 block of Lucille Street. The car is reportedly owned by a Napa Valley Villa Rica, Douglasville, Georgia woman. A Jackson Street woman is also named in the report for an unspecified reason.
On January 12 at 7:27 a.m., officers received a call from a woman who said that her father, who was driving a 2022 BMW X5 suv, had run off the road near the Dollar General Warehouse. The vehicle was reportedly owned by a Palmyra Drive, Greenville woman.
On January 12 at 12:48 p.m., a Rose Drive woman said that a Moorhead woman in a 2014 Nissan Maxima was harassing her at her home.
On January 12 at 4:48 p.m., the Sunflower County Sheriff's Office reportedly informed officers that two men were stabbing each other in the 1100 block of Garrard Avenue. One of the men received fatal injuries and was pronounced dead by the coroner. A black and silver switchblade knife, a black and silver Bowie knife and a men's hoodie was taken into evidence.
On January 13 at 1:31 a.m., a North Broadway Street, Greenville man said that he saw his wife, a North Saint Mary Circle, Greenville woman, beating on his 2016 Hyundai Sonata at the Quality Inn hotel in the 900 block of U.S. Highway 82 East, causing damage to the front windshield. The value of the damage is reportedly $368.
On January 13 at 5:28 a.m., a Birdsong Street man said someone broke into his 2008 Ford Ranger pickup through the rear passenger’s side window and stole his Silver Eagle 12-gauge pump shotgun valued at $350 and a Browning 300 Winchester Mag A-Bolt gun valued at $800.
On January 13 at 11:31 a.m., a Cox Street woman said someone broke into her home and stole a 36-inch Samsung flat screen TV valued at $228, a 36-inch Element flat screen TV valued at $185 and damaged a Southwest bedroom window.
On January 13 at 4:01 p.m., a South Cliff Finch Avenue, Sunflower woman said someone hit her 2021 Toyota Camry SD and damaged the front left fender, the tire rim and the front driver's side door and then left the scene.
On January 13 at 6:38 p.m., a Double Quick employee said that someone was shooting at the store in the 400 block of U.S. Highway 82 East.
On January 13 at 11:14 p.m., a McDonald's restaurant employee said a North Lincoln Street, Sunflower man was trespassing in the store, causing a disturbance and refusing to leave.
On January 13 at 11:46 p.m., a 17-year-old girl said that her mother, a Hannah Avenue woman, had put her out of the house. She stated that she is pregnant, that she didn't have a jacket on and that she had been waiting outside for over 40 minutes for her mother to open the door.
On January 14 at 3:01 a.m., a Mimosa Drive man said that there was a shootout in the area and that someone had damaged the front and back driver's side, the front passenger's side window and the back driver's side window on a 2016 Ford F-250. Officers reportedly recovered a bullet fragment, a spent Luger 9mm shell casing and two 7.62 X 39 spent shell casings.
On January 14 at 9:55 a.m., officers found a stolen 2011 Kia in the 200 block of Wiggins Road / Royal Oaks Apartments. The vehicle is reportedly owned by a Penny Circle, Sunflower woman. Officers also recovered $20 cash, and two Apple iPhones.
On January 14 at 11:28 a.m., a Julianne Drive woman reported an accident in the 300 block of Julianne Drive. A 2024 Chevrolet Silverado pickup and a 2021 Chevrolet Camaro were damaged. The woman and a Julianne Drive man are the reported drivers and $200 worth of damage was reported to a right front fender, $300 damage to a right tail light, $500 damage to a back right side bumper as well as $500 damage to a passenger-side door and front right fender.
On January 14 at 3:21 p.m., a Faison Avenue woman said that she has been receiving harassing text messages and being followed by an Ingram Street, Moorhead woman. A Faison Drive woman is also named in the report for unspecified reasons.
On January 14 at 3:55 p.m., someone from the South Sunflower County Hospital called officers because a Henderson Street woman had reportedly been assaulted. A South Shelby Street, Beulah, Mississippi man is the suspect.
On January 14 at 5:21 p.m., an Adair Street man said someone tried to break into his home through a back door and caused $200 worth of damage.
On January 15 at 8:28 p.m., an Airways Boulevard, Southaven, Mississippi woman said that a Campbell Drive man threatened her and that his mother, a Campbell Drive woman, pulled a gun on her in the 1100 block of Seymour Drive. A Choctaw Street man and a Terrace Drive man are also named as suspects.
On January 16 at 11:58 a.m., an Ethel Waters Drive man in a 2011 Chevrolet Camaro said that a Richland Road, Silver City man in a 2016 Volkswagen Passat ran into him in the 100 block of U.S. Highway 82 West–Double Quick/Church’s store. No injuries were reported.
On January 17 at 11:50 a.m., a Birdsong Street woman said someone broke into her home and stole a SCCY 9mm handgun valued at $250, a pair of Jordan 4’s valued at $300 and a Sony PS5.
On January 17 at 11:30 a.m., an It's Fashion Metro store employee said someone had broken a glass window valued at $500.
On January 17 at 1:45 p.m., a Campbell Drive woman requested a welfare concern/check on a South Southwest Plaza man because of suspected elder abuse. A Chandler Street woman is listed as the suspect.
On January 17 at 3:49 p.m., Clifford Road, Sunflower man reported damage to his 2008 Dodge Ram pickup that happened on U.S. Highway 49 due to a hit and run.
On January 14 at 3:01 a.m., three Mimosa Drive women reported shots fired and stated that someone had fired shots into their home.
On January 18 at 9:44 a.m., a Garrard Avenue man said that a Jackson Street woman threw a brick through his window and he wants to press charges.
On January 18 at 1:09 p.m., a Holly Drive man said that someone has been stealing unspecified parts off of his fence and he wants to report it.
On January 18 at 2:38 p.m., the Sunflower County Sheriff's Office informed officers of an accident in front of T-Mobile in the 200 block of U.S. Highway 82 involving a Sixth Avenue, Cleveland man and a North Davis Circle woman. The damaged vehicles were a 2021 Ford Ranger and a 2015 Chrysler Jeep Cherokee.
On January 18 at 6:43 p.m., a Quick Circle man said that he had received a phone call about someone “messing around” with the vehicles at Pate's Auto Repair in the 300 block of U.S. Highway 82 West. A 2016 Hyundai Sonata, owned by a West Gresham Street man, was mentioned in the report, but no damage was specified.
On January 18 at 10:35 p.m., a Whittington Drive man said that a Broadmoor Drive man is continuously harassing him and threatening him by voice message.
