Indianola police are investigating what appears to have been a Saturday triple homicide on Janet Davis Drive.
IPD Chief Ronald Sampson confirmed to The Enterprise-Tocsin today that three elderly individuals are deceased, and one suspect is in custody.
“The suspect is the grandson of two of the victims,” Sampson said, adding that there were two female victims and one male victim.
Sampson said that dispatch received two calls of shots fired at around 12:45 p.m. on Saturday.
When officers arrived in the 200 block of Janet Davis Drive, they discovered the bodies of two elderly individuals outside a home there. The body of the third victim was later discovered there.
Sunflower County Coroner Heather Burton told The Enterprise-Tocsin that all three victims were pronounced dead at the scene.
Sampson said that responding officers found the person who was later identified as the lone suspect. He was sitting in a vehicle nearby.
“He didn’t put up any resistance, and they took him into custody,” Sampson said.
Sampson said the names of the victims and the suspect will be released but not at this time.
