A steady stream of District 1-4A baseball games continued Thursday night for the Indianola Academy Colonels.
Carrying a 7-12, 0-6 record into that doubleheader against Marshall Academy, the outcome of this IA clash was unavailable at press time.
However, in these two teams’ series opener played this past Monday in Holly Springs, the Colonels dropped an 8-2 decision to the strong Patriots squad.
District action continues next Tuesday in Clarksdale when the Colonels take on Lee Academy.
Save a potential makeup game with Kirk Academy of Grenada, this upcoming series represents the final district series of the regular season.
There will still be three non-district dates remaining to play on the IA schedule following next week’s IA-Lee Academy clash.
First pitch of next Tuesday’s game with the Colts is set to be thrown at 6 p.m.
The Lee Academy squad will then come to the IA field next Thursday for a series-completing doubleheader.
That twin bill is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.
In their Monday night loss to Marshall Academy, the Colonels were unable to rebound from a 7-0 deficit after two innings of play.
The Colonels mustered six hits in the contest and the offensive effort was led by sophomore Gage Howard and freshman Ty Killebrew.
The pair drilled a pair of singles apiece while also recording an RBI apiece.
Also ripping a double during this night’s play was freshman Patrick Davis.
Additional district action occurred last Friday against North Delta School and the home-field action was not kind to the Colonels.
The IA squad suffered losses to the Green Wave from Batesville within both ends of the doubleheader by 8-2 and 21-3 scores.
Pacing the night’s hitting was Davis with a pair of doubles while Walker Perkins added two singles to the IA efforts.
Rounding out the Colonels’ attack at the plate was Tyler Jackson, who also sent a double into the gap.
