It is time to get back to work for the Thomas Edwards High Tigers football team.
After enjoying an open date last week, the Tigers find themselves returning to action just in time to help their school celebrate Homecoming.
However, the most important goal for today’s 7 p.m. Region 3-3A game with Yazoo County High is for the 2-5, 0-2 Tigers to earn their first regional victory of the season.
On paper, it appears the Tigers have a great opportunity to snap a two-game losing streak as the Panthers of Yazoo County bring a 3-5, 0-3 record to Ruleville.
A victory is not a given, however, as the Panthers can be counted on to come into tonight’s game very hungry for a win.
Last week, the Panthers ran their own current losing streak to four games after dropping a narrow 33-32 regional decision to Amanda Elzy High of Greenwood.
Historically, Yazoo County owns a 5-1 series advantage over past Thomas Edwards High teams — a margin enhanced by last year’s 8-0 victory over the Tigers.
