The 2023-24 Gentry High School basketball season has come to an end.
This past weekend saw both the Lady Rams and the Rams suffer first-round losses in the 5A State Championship Playoffs.
For the Lady Rams, who saw their final record move to an 18-12 mark, their final game of the season occurred last Friday night at Pontotoc High School.
Playing a Lady Warriors squad now owning a 26-2 record, the Lady Rams fell by a 69-32 score.
The Pontotoc High squad moved on to this past Wednesday night’s quarterfinal contest against Holmes County Central High of Lexington.
Meanwhile, last Saturday night at New Hope High School, the Rams fell by a 63-38 margin to the now 26-2 Trojans.
The loss dropped the Rams’ final record to a 12-18 mark for the season.
The Trojans of New Hope High moved on to Wednesday’s quarterfinal match-up against Yazoo City High School.
There were three senior Lady Rams wearing their Gentry High uniform for the last time last Friday night.
This trio includes Breniyah Myrick, Asianique Smith and X’Zaylah Yarbor.
As for the Rams, nine players were wearing their Gentry High uniform for the final time last Saturday in New Hope.
This large group of seniors includes Detric Allen, Samaj Attaway, Makheal Blackmon, Henry Brown, DeMarques Gibson, ZaCarius Johnson, Bryson Lee, Rodarius Plain and Bryce Young.
