The Gentry High Rams baseball team finally had an opportunity to play a game this week.
Opening their 2023 season this past Tuesday in Belzoni against Humphreys County High, however, the 14-4 loss was not the result the Rams were hoping to experience.
With that game under their belt, the Rams now begin a four-game run of home dates today.
The Rams’ initial competition in this string of home-dates is scheduled to be the Leland High Cubs. First pitch is set for 4 p.m.
Baseball play continues rapidly for the Rams next Tuesday when an always-strong Hollandale Simmons High squad comes to the Rams’ home field. This non-regional clash with the Blue Devils will also see its first pitch thrown at 4 p.m.
Continuing to march through their schedule, next Wednesday offers the Rams additional home-field competition. On this occasion it will be Humphreys County High School of Belzoni coming to town.
While this game with the Cowboys is set to begin at 4 p.m., it also marks the final non-regional game for the Rams prior to beginning Region 3-4A competition.
For on March 7, it will be the Yazoo City High Indians who will close out the Rams’ current home-field string of games.
In this past Tuesday’s 14-4 loss to Humphreys County High, the Rams were led at the plate by Raphael Ross’ double and two runs batted in.
Also stroking a single apiece were Troy Griffin and Charles Jennings.
