They are on the hunt for victories of any type, but particularly the district kind.
Those opportunities to claim District 1-4A softball victories are now on hand for the Indianola Academy Lady Colonels.
Owning a 5-8, 1-3 record, the IA squad’s search for those victories begins next Monday with a trip to North Delta School in Batesville.
One day later on Tuesday, Head Coach Watson Cook’s squad returns to their home field in Chism Park to take on the Fillies of Lee Academy in Clarksdale.
Game times for both dates are to be announced.
In their most recent action this past week, the Lady Colonels dropped a pair of games.
The week’s play ended Tuesday evening and saw IA lose to defending state champion Marshall Academy by a 14-0 score.
Meanwhile, Monday a trip to Deer Creek School in Arcola saw the Lady Colonels fall in a hard-fought contest by an 8-7 score.
In this game, the Lady Colonels overcame a 7-5 deficit in the top of the last inning on the strength of a two-RBI double off the bat of Julia Davis.
With the score now knotted at seven apiece, moments later the Lady Warriors used a walk-off single to escape with the non-district win.
The Lady Colonels accumulated nine hits in this game, an effort led by Davis with her double and pair of singles.
Meanwhile, Addison Rambo drilled three singles in the contest while Kelly Arrington delivered an RBI double.
In the pitcher’s circle, Meadow Smith’s 5.2 innings of work yielded nine hits while striking out three batters and walking four.
