Losses pile up but the MDCC Lady Trojans are still putting in the work to improve and are taking plenty of opponents to the wire. In Tuesday’s action on the road at Northwest, the Lady Trojans fell 8-7 and 4-2 but held leads in game one and were tied at two for most of game two.
Last Saturday, the Lady Trojans fell on the road to Pearl River, 9-1 and 5-2. Their next action is this Saturday, March 23 when they host Southwest in a doubleheader at the Carl and Brenda Grubb Softball Complex starting at 1:00 p.m. On Tuesday, the Lady Trojans are home again hosting Arkansas State-Newport with a doubleheader first pitch at 1:00 p.m. They travel to Copiah Lincoln on Friday, March 29 with a double-header first pitch at 2:00 p.m.
In 24 games, the Lady Trojans have 62 runs and are batting .264 as a team. They are 0-8 in the conference. Freshman Adriyana Ruffin is leading the team at the plate hitting.404 with seven RBIs on 23 hits and has scored 21 runs. She also has 10 stolen bases. Sophomore Carlie Vannucci is hitting .429 with 16 hits and four RBIs. On the defensive side, the team has committed 52 errors while their opponents have only committed 25.
