Senior Night on the Gentry High baseball field has a dual meaning for the Rams today when they take on Clarksdale High School today at 4 p.m.
In addition to honoring their senior players, the Rams will be striving to maintain their third-place slot among Region 3-4A competition.
With playoffs beginning the week of April 24, the 5-8, 1-5 Rams are hoping to take that third-place seeding into postseason action.
The stakes are high today as a Gentry High victory would ensure that postseason three seed the Rams covet.
The Rams most recently lost to the Wildcats of Clarksdale High this past Tuesday evening by a 14-3 score.
“We have a chance to have some success if we can play well”, said Gentry High Head Coach Eddie Ivory.
No matter what seed the Rams achieve, Region 1-4A will supply the Rams with their opening 4A playoff competition.
A long bus ride to the far-reaches of Northeast Mississippi will be necessary once the postseason begins.
Playing a three-game series, Region 1 is comprised of Caledonia High, Corinth High, Itawamba Agricultural High of Fulton, Mooreville High, Shannon High, and Tishomingo High of Iuka .
