With the Unity Bowl football game behind them, the Thomas Edwards High Tigers move on to game three of this young season.
Owning a 0-2 record, the hope is that a trip to Hollandale Simmons High tonight will earn the Tigers their first victory of the 2023 campaign.
Kickoff for this non-regional contest is scheduled for 7 p.m.
Last Friday night, in the Unity Bowl, the Tigers fell by a 40-0 score to visiting cross-county rival Gentry High School.
The Rams improved their record to a 2-0 mark with the victory.
As for tonight’s action against the Blue Devils of Simmons High, the Tigers will face a 1-0 squad which resides in District 5-1A.
The Blue Devils opened their season last Friday night with a 6-0 victory over the Leflore County High Tigers from Itta Bena.
The Blue Devils are coming off a very successful 2022 campaign in which they earned a 10-2 record. It was a season which came to an end in the second round of the state playoffs.
Historically, the Tigers and Blue Devils have met on a football field 23 times.
While the Tigers own a 14-9 series advantage, the last time these two schools met on a football field was during the 2014 season.
