All of us are children of God and each one of us possesses unique qualities and talents.
What we do in this world touches someone, somehow, somewhere. We never know our true outreach to others.
All of us have dreams and visions of what we can accomplish and many of us have set goals on how to reach these dreams. These goals need to include what God wants us to do. I firmly believe that He has given each of us a destiny and it is our responsibility to talk with Him and learn what this destiny is.
John 14:14 tells us, “You may ask me anything in my name, and I will do it.”
It doesn’t matter what vocation we are in because all of us are called by God to do His work. Whether we are husbands, wives, parents, children, pastors, deacons, or just church members we are to serve our risen Savior and live for Him.
So many of us get caught up in worldly ways that we tend to let our call from God sit in the back of our mind. God has given us special abilities and gifts to serve Him. We need to lead the way in everything that we do, whether it is in our work place, home, social settings, or some other place that we are frequently at or in.
All of us strive to reach that golden age of retirement. We work hard putting our hard-earned money into retirement accounts, 401K’s, etc. We strive to have and long for the good life after our workplace experience is over. There is absolutely nothing wrong with this and God gave us the ability to realize we need these retirements and savings for when we are older.
As we strive for those golden years we need to realize we may never see the first day of retirement. During our lifetime of working and promoting the Kingdom of God through whatever we do gives us the retirement that is out of this world. Colossians 3:23-24 commands us to, “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.”
It doesn’t matter what vocation you are in — you are touching someone in some way. Remember, Jesus began as a carpenter and touched the lives of millions.
What is your destiny and how are you going to handle it?
