Mississippi Delta Community College’s (MDCC) Dean of Student Services Christopher Lee recently graduated from the Mississippi Community College Leadership Academy (MCCLA).
The MCCLA was developed in the spring of 2009 to address the projected need for upper-level leaders in the Mississippi community college system. It is organized around the practical needs for future community college leaders, specific to the Mississippi community college system.
“The Mississippi Community College Leadership Academy provided an invaluable platform for me to gain a deeper understanding of the unique challenges and opportunities for leaders within the community college landscape of Mississippi,” said Lee. “One of the most significant takeaways from the program was the emphasis on servant leadership. Having the opportunity to engage with several community college presidents from across the state, I learned the importance of prioritizing the needs of others, fostering a culture of inclusion and empowering those around me to achieve their full potential. This has fundamentally shifted my approach to leadership within student services, motivating me to be a champion not only for the students we serve here at MDCC but for faculty and staff as well.”
The MCCLA is a rigorous program that requires attendees to read seven different literary works while also completing research projects and listening to speakers.
“I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to have been part of the 15th cohort of MCCLA , and I highly encourage others to participate in this transformative program,” concluded Lee.
