The Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Mississippi Foundation, in partnership with South Sunflower County Hospital Foundation hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony for the new Indianola Community Wellness Center on Thursday.

The brand new center, which sits at 408 Moody Ave. adjacent to SSCH and Indianola Family Medical Clinic, will bring a new level of wellness and disease prevention to the community through a full gym, fitness classes, healthy cooking classes and other instructional programs.
Dr. Wade Dowell told those in attendance on Thursday the new center will be transformational in terms of disease prevention in the community.
Dr. Wade Dowell, who spoke at the ceremony, told The Enterprise-Tocsin afterwards that the wellness center will work closely with the clinic.

Doctors, he said, will refer patients to the wellness center for different programs and regimens, so that their wellness progress can be tracked more accurately.
