On a poignant Tuesday, friends and community members converged at the B.B. King Museum in Indianola for a significant Canvas and Conversations event – a heartfelt tribute to the memory of Sarah Scott.
Mayor Ken Featherstone of Indianola initiated the session, underscoring Mrs. Scott's unwavering commitment to Canvas and Conversations sessions.
As a symbol of their shared grief and hope, the eight participants lovingly inscribed the quote, "Because Someone We Love is in Heaven, There's A Little Bit of Heaven in Our Home," on blank canvases.
The participants painted while sharing light snacks, words of encouragement, and a comforting prayer.
"Today's session reflected on and celebrated our friend's death. I felt the love shared by others while celebrating the memory. I came so I could accept the loss. I know that God has a reason for whatever is put in our lives. I enjoyed seeing friends," shared Barnett Elder of Indianola.
Cheryl Featherstone added, "This is a nice gesture from the mayor. Today's tribute to Mrs. Sarah Scott was comforting. We will all miss Sarah's presence."
"The City of Indianola and the B.B. King Museum are partners in sponsoring Canvas and Conversations. Since July 2022, there has been an average of about 30 participants each month," said Featherstone.
