Scott Lenoir, originally from McComb and a retired Episcopal priest who served at several churches in the Delta a generation ago, will sign copies of his fast-paced suspense novel, The Amendment, at St. John’s Episcopal Church of Leland on Sunday, December 15 from 3-5 p.m. The book is available for $24.95 plus tax. A resident of Gautier, Lenoir edited The Mississippi Episcopalian for 12 years and has written creatively since his retirement, taking part in Coast-area writing workshops, including one presented each year by fellow Dogwood Press author and McComb native Valerie Winn. Very familiar with the Delta, Lenoir served as the curate of St. James Episcopal Church of Greenville from 1988-1990 and as Priest-in-Charge of Redeemer Episcopal Church of Greenville in that time span. He was the rector of St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church of Indianola from 1990-1995 before returning to St. James as rector from 1995-2000. “What drew me to The Amendment, in addition to the nonstop suspense, is multi-layered protagonist Blake Weaver,” said Dogwood Press Editor-in-Chief Joe Lee. “A complicated man, Blake has a big heart and a fervent desire to protect the people he cares about. He’s a banker, but when there’s a score to settle, he’ll tap into his law enforcement background to take care of business. And the book is set in south Mississippi and New Orleans, which is even better.” Lenoir had a series in mind from the first keystroke of The Amendment and has a second volume already in Lee’s hands for consideration. Blake Weaver and several cast members return for the sequel as well as a possible third installment. “The Amendment is a rollercoaster ride allowing Blake to get a grip on his life while simultaneously losing himself in a dangerous confrontation,” Lenoir said. “A little help from new friends and a lost love make all the difference.” “We’ve seen excellent response to Scott’s book all over Mississippi and beyond,” Lee said. “Delta readers will thoroughly enjoy his talk, especially those who knew him from his pastoring days. Like most Mississippians, Scott never met a stranger.” St. John’s Episcopal Church is located at 405 California Avenue in Leland. To reserve signed copies, please call 662-686-4260.
