The Sunflower County Library System announces these upcoming programs for the month of April.
Indianola Library: Storytime at 9:30 a.m. “There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Frog” by Lucille Colandro on April 9th, “A Kite for Moon” by Jane Yolen on April 16th, “Stella. Princess of the Sky” by Marie Louise Gay on April 23rd and “This Jazzman” by Karen Ehrhardt on April 30th.
Join us for Virtual Storytime featuring “Tinyville Town I’m a Librarian” by Brian Biggs beginning April 4th on the Sunflower County Library YouTube Channel.
April 7-13 is National Library Week. This year’s theme is Ready, Set, Library! Join us for the Library Quotes Scavenger Hunt at all branches of the Sunflower County Library System and win a sweet treat.
April 7-13 is also the Week of the Young Child. During this week parents and caregivers are encouraged to come by the library and get a library card for their children. Participants will be given a tour of the library and will receive a free literacy activity to take home.
April is National Financial Literacy Month. Join us for The Allowance Game on April 8th at 4 p.m. at the Moorhead Library and April 9th at 4 p.m. at the Inverness Library. Join us in learning about Financial Literacy on April 8th at 4 p.m. at the Drew Library and April 9th at 4 p.m. at the Ruleville Library.
April is National Stress Awareness Month. Join us in making Stress Balls on April 11th at 2 p.m. at the Indianola Library.
Join us for “Let’s Talk Careers” featuring Debbie Allen with Indianola Floral Designs on April 17th at 3 p.m. at the Indianola Library.
Earth Day is celebrated in the month of April. Join us for Plant a Seed on April 18th at 4:30 p.m. at the Indianola Library. Join us for Plant a Tree Storytime featuring “Nelly Plants a Tree” by Anne Wynter on April 22nd at 4 p.m. at the Moorhead Library and April 23rd at 4 p.m. at the Inverness Library. Join us for Earth Day Handprint Photo Keepsake on April 22nd at 4 p.m. at the Drew Library and April 23rd at 4 p.m. at the Ruleville Library.
Join us in making Spring Butterflies Craft time on April 24th at 4 p.m. at the Drew Library and April 25th at 4 p.m. at the Ruleville Library.
Join us in Crafting Your Own Keychain and/or Refrigerator Magnet on April 27th at 1 p.m. at the Indianola Library.
Join us for fun and games such as Bingo and community jigsaw puzzles during The Social Hour on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Indianola Library. What a good way to meet new friends and keep your mind sharp! Math building skills sessions are available every Saturday from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Indianola Library. Get a jump start on mastering math.
Join us for Chair Aerobics and get fit while you sit every 4th Thursday of each month from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Indianola Library.
If you cannot make these programs due to a tight schedule, take advantage of Library Pop-In Programs at all library branches to create Skunk Craft, Submarine Craft, Sheep Craft, and April Events coloring sheet available to you whenever you visit the library.
