City-owned property located at 1003 West Delta in Moorhead needs to be examined by a structural engineer before it can be used for an event space.
In an effort to revitalize downtown Moorhead, the city targeted an old dilapidated building to revitalize and showcase the glory of the city. One of the areas selected is located downtown.
Mayor George Holland said that the property needs professional attention before it can be used. The property will be managed by the city and available to the public.
Businessman Kenneth Carpenter and the city’s board are working together to locate and secure a structural engineer who will survey the property for damages and provide solutions for repairs.
“I am not looking for any credit; I just want Moorhead to look good and grow," said Carpenter.
Holland said that he wanted to see the space used. The area was originally designed for citizens to relax and sit in a beautiful area outdoors while waiting for their doctor’s appointment.
Holland added that he is concerned about the structure and safety of the space. Holland mentioned that much work has gone into the revitalization of Moorhead’s downtown buildings.
