On Friday the remnants of an old Delta plantation ended when the owners of Billups Plantation ceased active operation and rented out its land instead. Located at Heathman, the farm, long-known as Heathman Plantation was one of the earliest founded in this area, having been established around 1854.

Terri Lee Hendon has been awarded the Jim Lowe Scholarship in the Architectural Engineering Technology Department at the University of Southern Mississippi.

Two Mississippi Delta Junior College students were fined by Moorhead Mayor Steve Oswalt with indecent exposure and creating a disturbance in connection with a streaking incident at the junior college last Wednesday night.

The Indianola Garden Club honored its charter members with a luncheon Tuesday. Charter members attending included Mrs. Hollis Rogers, Mrs. Charles Gordon, Mrs. Abe Weinberg, Mrs. John McLendon, Mrs. Milton Barnett, Mrs. Walton Gresham Sr. and Mrs. John W. Johnson

Mrs. Isabel Lee of Indianola, the first black woman to serve on the Indianola Public School board, was recognized by a special ceremony in honor of her retirement. Mrs. Lee was appointed to the board by Indianola Aldermen in February 1969. She is being succeeded by Walter Gregory.

Margaret Crosthwaite of Indianola was elected secretary of the Associated Student Body at the University of Mississippi during recent campus-wide student elections.
