Only one time in the nearly 30-year history of the Morris Lewis Jr. Citizen of the Year award had it ever been given to more than one person in a year.
That was until this past Monday night when Robin and Steve Rosenthal were given the prestigious award at the annual Indianola Chamber Main Street Mixer at the B.B. King Museum.
Last year’s recipient and childhood friend of Steve Rosenthal, Leanne Silverblatt, honored both to culminate the awards ceremony.
Robin Rosenthal has spent the last decade dedicated to serving Indianola, not only as director of Keep Indianola Beautiful, but also serving on the board of the Friends of the Henry M. Seymour Library. Steve Rosenthal notably served as Indianola’s mayor from 2010-22, but prior to that, he operated businesses in the city, as well as being one of the organizers of the first B.B. King Homecoming Festival. We will have more in-depth coverage of the award recipients later this month. More photos from Monday night’s awards appear on Page 12.
