Sunflower County is seeking a new comptroller.
Stephanie Washington is reportedly leaving the position to take over as county administrator in Adams County.
She was expected to be officially announced for the new role this week.
Washington, who served as the county’s purchasing clerk for eight years prior to her most recent role, has multiple degrees, including a business degree from Delta State, as well as a master’s degree, and she is currently working on her doctorate, she told the Natchez Democrat.
This position comes open as the county also prepares to interview multiple candidates for the county administrator position next week.
Chancery Clerk Dr. Gloria McIntosh held that position until late 2023 when she resigned.
The position was then advertised for several weeks.
